ZaZearra Carter joined the Wayne State University Athletic Department as the head coach of the cheerleading program prior to the 2023-24 season.  The 2024-25 academic year is her second year in charge of the cheerleading program.

Originally from Detroit, Carter cheered (National Cheerleaders Association - NCA) and did STUNT competitively at Davenport University in Grand Rapids.
