Brad Bez joined the Wayne State football staff in the summer of 2019 and was a graduate assistant coach working with the offensive line in 2019. He will serve in the same capacity in 2020.
Ten (10) of his O-linemen earned GLIAC All-Academic Excellence honors for maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5. In addition, three members of his group received All-GLIAC recognition. Junior Landin Mitchell was First Team All-GLIAC plus Second Team All-Super Region 3 by Hansen's Gazette. Both senior Adam McJunkin and junior Lane Potter were voted to the All-GLIAC Second Team as the squad compiled a 7-1 league record.
The offensive line corps helped WSU rank 14th nationally in time of possession (32:40), 24th in fewest sacks allowed per game (1.18) and 28th in yards per completion (14.61). The Warriors led the GLIAC (for league games only) in red zone offense (83% - 19-of-23), ranked second in scoring offense (29.6 points per game) passing touchdowns (13) and third-down conversion percentage (41% - 43-of-105), while ranking third in rushing yards per game (194.6) and average yards per carry (4.6).
Bez played 18 games as an offensive lineman for Kalamazoo College from 2015-18, including starting all 10 games during the 2018 campaign at right guard for the Hornets, who went 7-3. He also started at left guard during his junior campaign.
A 2019 graduate from KC with a bachelor's degree in History and a minor in Political Science, Bez had internships with both Michigan State and Kalamazoo College.
A native of Okemos, Mich., Bez attended the 2018 NCAA Career in Sports Forum and was a four-time Dean's List honoree while at KC.
