UPDATED January 16, 2023

Dylan Dunn joined the Wayne State University football coaching staff in April of 2018, and served as an assistant running backs coach for the fifth straight season in 2022.

Two of his student-athletes received All-GLIAC recognition in 2022 with Kendall Williams being voted to the First Team and Myren Harris to the Second Team.  In addition, five of his student-athletes garnered Academic All-GLIAC honors, including one on the Excellence Team (cumulative GPA 3.5+).

During the 2021 season, he helped mentor First Team All-GLIAC running back Myren Harris and Second Team All-GLIAC running back Kendall Williams.  Harris led the GLIAC in rushing yards per game (114.2), while Williams finished third on the squad in both rushing yards (295) and receiving yards (280).  WSU ranked third in the GLIAC in rushing yards per game (181.5) and fourth in scoring (24.1 points per game).  In addition, fullback Will Butler was named to the GLIAC All-Academic Team.

In 2019, he assisted Deiontae Nicholas in being voted GLIAC Offensive Back of the Year, First Team All-GLIAC and Third Team All-Super Region 3 by Hansen's Gazette.  Nicholas was also WSU's Offensive Most Valuable Player and Randy Guzowski Award recipient for team leadership along with exemplary school and community citizenship.

In addition, James Hill was a Second Team All-GLIAC selection, and fullback Stephen Charron was named to the All-GLIAC Honorable Mention Team.  Hill led the GLIAC and was 22nd nationally with 13 rushing touchdowns.  Tailback King Sanders was the Warriors co-Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Four of his running backs received GLIAC All-Academic recognition, with Nicholas being voted to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team.

Wayne State ranked 18th nationally in fewest fumbles lost (5), but first in the GLIAC (for league games only) with one lost fumble.  The Warriors were second in the conference in both scoring offense (29.6 points per game) and third-down conversion percentage (41% - 43-of-105), while ranking third in both rushing yards per game (194.6) and average yards per carry (4.6), which helped WSU compile a 7-1 GLIAC record.

In his inaugural year with the Warriors, he helped mentor Second Team All-GLIAC honoree James Hill, who was also voted WSU's Offensive MVP.  Hill finished 16th in D2 averaging 6.44 yards per carry.  In addition, fullback Stephen Charron received the WSU Football Serxho Guraleci/Ultimate Warrior Award for outstanding work in the weight room, while fullback Randy Garvin was selected as the Randy Guzowski Award winner for his team leadership, and exemplary school and community citizenship.

Dunn came to WSU after spending 2017 as the offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach and running backs coach at Farmington High School.  The previous season, he coached running backs and cornerbacks at FHS.  In his lone season as offensive coordinator, the Falcons averaged 27 points per game and rushed for nearly 2,000 yards.  In 2017, he mentored running back Kendall Williams to Honorable Mention All-State honors and Second Team All-Area recognition.

Dunn spent the spring of 2016 as a volunteer secondary coach at Adrian College.

A native of Livonia, Dunn graduated from Adrian College in 2016 with a double major in History and Religion.  He completed a master's of divinity in May 2020 from Moody Theological Seminary.

Dunn received the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's (MIAA) Pete Schmidt Memorial Scholar-Athlete Award in 2015, which is given to one senior football player in the conference for academics and community service.  He rushed for 132 yards in nine games as a senior, including a 41-yard scamper against Benedictine.  Dunn had a rushing touchdown vs. Alma in 2014 as he played in 11 games.  His longest run of 2014 came vs. Mount Union in the NCAA Division III playoffs.

A 2012 graduate of Livonia Stevenson, Dunn played for Tim Gable and Matt Fielder during his high school career, then Jim Deere at AC.

He is married to former WSU Sports information graduate intern Lauren Bryne.
