Jaylon Doss joined the Wayne State University football coaching staff in March of 2022.  He served as a graduate assistant coach working with the defensive backs in his inaugural season with the Warriors.  During the 2023 campaign, Doss worked with the safeties, while also serving as the squad's video coordinator.

In 2023, he helped guide two All-GLIAC performers in defensive backs Drake Reid (Second Team) and Dalen Peeks (Honorable Mention).

The previous year (2022), Doss helped mentor Drake Reid to Second Team All-GLIAC recognition, and true freshman Elijah Fowlkes to Honorable Mention All-GLIAC accolades.  In addition, 10 of his student-athletes garnered Academic All-GLIAC honors, including three on the Excellence Team (cumulative GPA 3.5+).

Doss, who is a native of Copley, Ohio, began his collegiate playing career at Malone University.  He played in nine games for the Pioneers in 2017, making seven starts at safety.  He recorded 36 tackles (17-19), including two assisted tackles for loss.  Doss made a season-high 10 tackles against Kentucky Wesleyan (10/14/17).  He also contributed one pass break-up as a freshman.

The following year, he started all eight contests and finished third on the squad with 62 tackles (43-19) to earn Honorable Mention All-GMAC recognition.  His 43 solo stops led the squad.  Doss had an interception against cross-town rival Walsh, while posting a season-high 13 tackles, including a tackle for loss, at Findlay (11/3/18).  He also contributed two assisted tackles for loss and a pass break-up as a sophomore, along with being named the recipient of the Dick Gallagher Memorial Scholarship.

After Malone discontinued football in February of 2019, Doss transferred to Fairmont State and played in nine games in 2019 making 11 solo tackles.  His senior season (2000) was not held due to COVID-19.

Doss served as a student assistant coach at Fairmont State in 2021, while earning his bachelor's degree in Exercise Science.
