Pat Fogarty, Jr. joined the Wayne State University football coaching staff in March of 2023 and has served as tight ends coach on Tyrone Wheatley's staff for two seasons (2023 and 2024).

In his first season with the Warriors, Fogarty mentored All-GLIAC Honorable Mention selection John Rayba.  In addition, three of his tight ends received Academic All-GLIAC recognition, including two on the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team for maintaining a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5.

In 2024, Rayba was selected to the All-GLIAC First Team becoming just the second tight end since Trent Brodbeck in 2014 (Nick Poterack in 2021) to garner First Team accolades.  Rayba led the Warriors in touchdown receptions (5), which was the most by a WSU tight end since at least 1960.  It was the also the highest total in 2024 for a GLIAC tight end.  Four of his student-athletes garnered Academic All-GLIAC recognition, including two on the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team for maintaining a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5.

He spent the two seasons (2021 and 2022) prior to coming to Detroit as a graduate assistant coach working with the offensive line at Bowling Green State University on head coach Scot Loeffler's staff.  Fogarty completed work on an MBA at BGSU in December of 2022.

A 2016 graduate of Stetson University with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Fogarty was named to the Pioneer Football League Academic Honor Roll three times and was a three-time Honorable Mention All-PFL selection.  He started all 44 games played for the Hatters at either guard or tackle and was a two-year team captain.

Following graduation, he worked as a sales representative in his hometown of Savannah, Ga.  Fogarty began his coaching career at his prep alma mater, Benedictine Military School, spending three years with Cadets (2017-19).  He first served as assistant offensive line coach in 2017, before spending the final two seasons as offensive line coach.

His first collegiate coaching position was at SU, where he served as an offensive quality control assistant during the 2020 season.

He comes from a family of athletes.  His mother played college volleyball at Louisiana Tech and his brother was an offensive lineman at Georgia.
