Rodney Hall joined the Wayne State University football coaching staff in the summer of 2023. He assisted offensive coordinator Russell DeMasi with the quarterbacks on first-year head coach Tyrone Wheatley's staff.
In his inaugural season with the Warriors, Hall helped mentor four quarterbacks who saw playing time, including two who had never played a down collegiately.
A Detroit native, Hall began his collegiate career at Northern Illinois University where he redshirted in 2017. He played both quarterback and wide receiver for the Huskies in 2018 appearing in four games (at Iowa, vs. Utah, vs. Central Michigan, and at Florida State). Hall recorded one reception vs. the Hawkeyes. In 2019, he notched a solo tackle for NIU in a contest at Ohio University.
Following the pandemic, Hall joined William Penn University and played in nine games in 2021. He completed 24 passes for 391 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for 313 yards and four scores. In addition, Hall had four receptions for 129 yards including a 68-yard TD catch against Baker. He also accumulated 149 yards on seven kickoff returns (21.3 KOR).
After graduating from William Penn in May of 2022 with a bachelor's degree in Psychology, Hall spent his final season as a graduate transfer at Davenport.
He led Cass Tech to the 2016 MHSAA Division 1 state title by tossing an
MHSAA Finals record-tying five touchdown passes. Hall finished his senior season by completing 142 of 238 passes for 2,535 yards and 28 touchdowns, after a junior season when he threw for 2,232 yards and 20 touchdowns and ran for 1,053 yards and 14 scores.
