Zac Garvin joined the Wayne State University football coaching staff in the spring of 2020 as a student assistant coach. After graduating from WSU in 2021 with a bachelor's degree in sports management, Garvin served as a graduate assistant coach working with the defensive backs in the fall of 2021.
He helped mentor two Honorable Mention All-GLIAC performers in cornerbacks Dalen Peeks and Drake Reid. Peeks played in all 11 games this past season starting nine times, while Reid led the Warrior secondary with 53 tackles and seven pass break-ups in his first collegiate season.
In addition, four student-athletes (Shavez Hawkins, Jr., Hayden Loya, Drake Reid and Brayden Vredeveld) were named to the 2021 GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team for maintaining a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5, while four others (David Green, Myles Harris, Martell Hill and Joe Wright) earned GLIAC All-Academic honors.
Prior to joining the Warrior staff, he worked with the wide receivers and defensive backs at Farmington High School in both 2018 and 2019.
The Milford, Mich., native is the son of Jeff and Monica Garvin. He played football for Detroit Catholic Central and graduated in 2016.
