Neil Maskill joined the Wayne State University Athletic Department in January of 2022 as an Athletic Equipment Manager.  He began his third season with the Warrior football program in the fall of 2024.

Prior to coming to WSU, Maskill served as an analytics and player performance assistant for the Detroit Lions from 2014 until 2021, followed by one year as a project manager with Frank Rewold & Sons.

While with the Lions, he managed inventory for player performance and equipment staff devices, equipment and wearables, while assisting the equipment staff on a daily basis.  Maskill also served as a key contributor to the development of player tracking and analysis and co-constructed and developed a new recovery room. 

In addition, he evaluated and tracked player performance analytics, executed practice and game reports.  Maskill developed and ran player performance analytics dashboard for the collaboration of all coaches, athletic trainers, nutrition, and strength and conditioning staff.  He was also a two-time Detroit Lions President Award nominee.

The Oxford, Mich. native, earned a bachelor's degree from Michigan State in 2014 in Business Management and served as a student equipment manager with the Spartan football program for four seasons helping MSU win the Outback Bowl in 2011, the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl the following season and the Rose Bowl in 2013.  Maskill earned a master’s degree from WSU in Sports Administration.

A member of the Athletic Equipment Manager's Association, he and his wife Sierrah reside in Waterford, with their daughter, Auburn.
