Manuela Ferreira joined the Wayne State swimming coaching staff for the 2017-18 school year as a volunteer assistant coach after a successful career as a Warrior swimmer, which included six All-American certificates.  The 2020-21 campaign was her fourth season on coach Sean Peters staff.

Ferreira was the recipient of a Rumble Fellowship in Chemical Engineering.

2016-17:  Voted to the CoSIDA Women's Academic At-Large All-America First Team for the second time in her career ... earned Academic All-District Women's At-Large First Team honors ... recipient of a 2016-17 GLIAC Winter Sports Commissioner's Award for academic and athletic excellence.  NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS:  A three-time First Team All-American … swam the second leg on both the 200 medley relay team that finished third in 1:41.01 and the sixth place 400 medley relay (3:44.73) … took fifth in the 100 breast (1:01.78). GLIAC CHAMPIONSHIPS: Swam the second leg of both first-place teams in the 200 medley (1:40.92) and the 400 medley (3:44.63) … was victorious in the 100 breast (1:01.94) … notched a sixth-place finish in the 200 breast with a time of 2:20.76. SEASON:  Named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team ... participated in all eight meets … recorded top times of the season in both the 100 breast (1:04.43) and 200 breast (2:24.64) at the EMU Invite (12/3) ... 2016-17 recipient of the DII ADA Academic Achievement Award.

2014-15:  NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS:  Two-time Honorable Mention All-American ... helped the 200 medley relay team win (ninth overall) the consolation finals with a time of 1:42.60 ... finished 11th in the 100 breast with a time of 1:03.34.  GLIAC CHAMPIONSHIPS:  Member of two champion relay teams ... swam the second leg of the 200 medley relay (1:43.17) ... also swam the second leg of the 400 medley relay (3:45.56) ... finished third in 100 breast (1:03.38) ... also competed in the 200 breast (2:23.45).   SEASON:  Voted to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Women's At-Large First Team and was Third Team Academic All-American ... named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team ... swam in seven meets ... recorded top regular season times in the  50 breast (31.15) at Oakland (11/1), 100 breast (1:06.33) and 200 breast (2:26.17) vs. Grand Valley State (1/10) and the 100 IM (1:11.20) against Findlay (1/16) ... named to CSCAA Scholar All-America First Team.

2013-14:  NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS:  Earned First Team All-America distinction, placing sixth in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.54) ... finished 26th in the 200 breaststroke (2:22.80).  GLIAC CHAMPIONSHIPS:  Won one conference title, swimming second leg of first-place 200 medley relay (1:42.72) ... placed third in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.60) ... won the consolation final in the 200 breaststroke (2:20.15).  SEASON:  Named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team and CSCAA Scholar All-America First Team ... swam in eight meets ... top 50 breaststroke time of 31.51 at Findlay (Jan. 17).

2012-13:  NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS:  Placed 18th in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.52).  GLIAC CHAMPIONSHIPS:  Placed seventh in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.98) and 15th in the 200 breaststroke (2:27.07) ... swam the second leg of the second-place 400 medley relay (3:47.96).  SEASON:  Joined the swim team in January ... competed in three meets .. named to the CSCAA Scholar All-America First Team.
