Patricia Aschan joined the Wayne State University swimming and diving coaching staff for the 2017-18 academic year as a graduate assistant, and concluded her second season on Coach Sean Peters staff in the spring of 2019.

Aschan joined the Warriors after swimming four years at Oakland University.  She was the first-ever three-time Horizon League Female Athlete of the Year and Swimmer of the Year, winning both awards in 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16.  Aschan was the first person to accomplish the feat.

She ended her Golden Grizzlies career with 18 total conference titles, including four 400 individual medley championships – also the first woman to do so.  She holds Horizon League, pool and school records in the event.

In the classroom, Ashchan was just as successful.  She was named to the Horizon League Fall Honor Roll in 2014, 2015 and 2016.  In addition, she was a College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America Scholar All-American in 2015-16, and was Academic All-League during her sophomore, junior and senior seasons.

A native of Raisio, Finland, Aschan attended Aurajoen Lukio High School in Turku.
