Ryan Stevens began his third season as an assistant coach on the Wayne State men's tennis staff in the fall of 2024.
 
He helped guide the 2022-23 and 2023-24 teams to their second and third consecutive NCAA Midwest Regional Championships as well as back-to-back trips to the NCAA Championship quarterfinals.
 
The 2022-23 Warriors advanced to the national quarterfinals before dropping a 4-1 decision to eventual National Champion Barry.  Wayne State posted a 23-10 overall record, which included a win streak of 12 matches.  Despite finishing second in the GLIAC regular season standings, WSU swept the GLIAC Tournament, topping Grand Valley State and regular-season Champion Ferris State 4-0 to claim back-to-back conference titles.  The team went on to blank both Drury and Southwest Baptist 4-0 in the NCAA Midwest Regional (first and second rounds).  In Orlando, Fla., the Warriors defeated Washburn, 4-2 before the loss to the Bucs.
 
Stevens helped mentor two ITA All-Americans in Daniel Grey and Cedric Drenth.

In 2023-24, he assisted in WSU in a second-place finish during GLIAC regular-season competition as well as the GLIAC Tournament, before claiming an NCAA Regional title with victories over Tiffin (4-3) and Grand Valley State (4-1).  At the NCAA Championships, the Warriors defeated Washburn (4-3) before falling to top-ranked Saint Leo.
 
Stevens graduated from Michigan Tech in 1995 earning an Environmental Engineering degree and playing for the Huskies' tennis squad from 1990-95.  He ranks among Michigan Tech’s top 10 in singles wins as well as doubles victories. In his final year with the program, he was voted the team’s Most Valuable Player.
 
He currently serves as Managing Director [redacted] and has been in the financial services industry for 28 years.
 
Stevens is married to his wife Olga, and they have three children.
