Lisa Erickson joined the Wayne State University Athletic Sports Medicine Staff in August of 2021 as the Head Athletic Trainer and Associate Athletic Director.  She enters her fifth year on staff in the fall of 2025.

Erickson currently serves on the WSU COSW (Commission on the Status of Women), chairing the Health & Wellness Committee.  She has helped the COSW plan events related to Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Menopause Awareness Month, Mental Health Awareness Month, Women's History Month, and overall financial health and wellness.

In addition, Erickson Initiated the Warrior Strides Campaign, which has collected and donated nearly 2,000 pairs of new socks since it began in 2022 (750 - 2022; 509 - 2023; 712 - 2024).

Another initiative started by Erickson is the I-96 Blood Battle with Davenport University.  This campaign, which began in 2023, has spearheaded the collection of over 100 pints of blood, saving up to 300 lives (34 -2023; 40 - 2024; 33 - 2025).

She has managed the re-branding of the Athletics Fueling Station, including the revitalization of internship and clinical rotations for Nutrition and Food Science majors, and Dietetics majors.

Erickson supports Wayne State's C2C (College-to-Career) initiative through volunteering and internship opportunities.  Since 2021, she has helped over 50 students gain hands-on experience in sports medicine, supporting their future careers in healthcare.

Erickson spent the prior four years at Madonna University in Livonia, Mich., including the final two seasons as Head Athletic Trainer.  Erickson was the primary Athletic Trainer for the football program as well as the softball, competitive cheerleading and competitive dance teams.  In addition to her athletic training duties at Madonna, Erickson was an Adjunct Assistant Professor, served on multiple university committees, and was the liaison between Madonna University and Ascension Hospital-Providence Athletic Medicine.

Prior to her appointment at MU in January of 2017, Erickson worked with Orthopaedic Rehab Specialists in Jackson, Mich., serving as the outreach Athletic Trainer for Jackson Northwest High School.

Erickson has also previously worked as an Athletic Trainer at Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa, and Adams State University in Alamosa, Colo.  She was also an Adjunct Professor at ASU, teaching in the Human Performance and Physical Education Department. 

She is TMR Master Dry Needling Level 1 Certified 2022; NATA Safe Space Ally Certified in 2022; Mental Health First Aid Certified in 2022; Opioid Overdose Responder Certified in 2023; and QPR certified in 2023.

Erickson earned a Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from Michigan State University in 2011, and spent time studying Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques at the National Taiwan Sports University in Guishan, Taoyuan, Taiwan.  She earned a master's degree in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois in 2013, where she also served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer.  Erickson earned an MBA degree from Ashford University in 2017, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Education in Leadership and Innovation.
