Former fencing All-American Ziad Elsissy joined Jerzy Radz's staff for the 2020-21 academic year as a graduate assistant coach.

Elsissy compeed at the 2020-21 Tokyo Olympics as the team captain for the Egyptian Sabre squad, which qualified as the No. 8 seed.  Egypt defeated Japan 45-32 with Elsissy winning all three bouts by a combined 15-3.  In the loss to Gold Medalist Korea, Elsissy wsa outscored 15-10.  Egypt then posted a 45-41 triumph over the Russian Olympic Committee with Elsissy winning 16 of 23 points.  In the fifth-place match against Iran which Egypt won 45-24, Elsissy won 15 of 20 points.

Including his performance in the individual competition in Tokyo, Elsissy garnered a 10-4 record and outscored his opponents 83-58 (+25) in touches.

He finished with the most saber victories in program history (332) and was a three-time All-American on the strip and a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American.

Elsissy was the national runner-up in both 2017 and 2018.  In three years of competing at the NCAA Championships, Elsissy compiled a 49-24 record (he qualified as a sophomore but chose to compete at the Grand Prix in Seoul, Korea.

2017-18:  Voted to the CoSIDA Academic At-Large All-America Second Team ... was the national runner-up at the NCAA Championships (3/24-25 for the second consecutive year and collected First Team All-American honors, posting a 19-6 record (+41 in touches) during the two-day event ... voted to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team ... competed in nine tournaments, all in the saber ... totaled a 102-23 overall record ... started season with a 16-2 mark and second-place finish at the Penn State Open (11/5) ... went 9-0 at the Danosi Open (12/3) and won 10 of his 11 bouts at the North American Cup (12/8-10) and finished second ... posted a 10-5 mark at the Philadelphia Invite (1/21) and went 10-2 at the Notre Dame DeCicco Duals (1/27) ... was unbeaten in 17 bouts at the Midwest Fencing Conference Championships (2/24-25) and went 7-2 at the NCAA Regionals (3/10) ... 2017-18 recipient of the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award.

2016-17:  Voted to the CoSIDA Academic At-Large All-America First Team ... runner-up at the NCAA National Championships (3/24) ... compiled a 15-8 mark during the round-robin portion and was +27 (101-74) in touches to earn the No. 3 seed for the semifinals ... defeated Ohio State's Fares Arfa 15-7 in the semifinals, before falling 15-10 to Harvard's Eli Dershwitz in the gold medal bout ... earned First Team All-American accolades ... participated in nine meets ... went undefeated (10-0) to place first in the sabre division at the Remenyik Open (10/1) … won the sabre division with a 7-0 record at the Danosi Open (12/11) ... posted an 11-0 record in the Titan Invitational (1/14) ... led the Warriors in bouts wins in the St. John's Duals (11-1), Notre Dame Duals (7-0), and Northwestern Duals (14-3) ... came in first place in the NCAA Midwest Regionals (3/11) ... voted to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team ... 2016-17 recipient of the DII ADA Academic Achievement Award.

2015-16:  Participated in seven meets … went undefeated (11-0) to place first in the sabre division at the Remenyik Open (10/25) … won the sabre division with a 9-0 record at the Danosi Open (12/6) … tied-for-17th at the North American Cup (12/7) … led the Warriors with 16 bout wins at the Notre Dame DeCicco Duals (1/16) … went 14-1 at the WSU Dual Meet (2/7) … finished fifth in the individual competition of the sabre event at the MFC Championships (2/27) … led the Warriors with an 11-1 mark in the team competition at the conference meet (2/28) … claimed the bronze medal (third place) in the sabre division at the NCAA Midwest Regional (3/12) ... 2015-16 recipient of the DII ADA Academic Achievement Award. 

2014-15:  Voted to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Men's At-Large First Team ... earned Second Team All-America accolades after placing seventh in the men's sabre competition at the 2015 NCAA Collegiate Championship (3/22)  ... earned First Team All-Midwest Fencing Conference honors ... finished first (11-2) at the NCAA Regional (3/7) ... placed fifth at the first meet of the season, Remenyik Open, with a 8-1 record in the sabre (10/25) ... posted a 14-1 sabre record in the Northwestern Duals (1/31) ... ended the 2014-15 season with a 56-16 record in the sabre.

2013-14:  Attended Wayne State, but did not compete and was redshirted.

High School:  Graduated from New El Quds International School in 2013 ... finished in first place in National School competitions from 2008-13 ... a member of the Egyptian National Fencing Team from 2009-13 ... also named captain of the team ... ranked No. 9 internationally ... competed in the 2010 Singapore Youth Olympic Games, placing 11th in the saber ... won titles at the Egyptian Championships, African Championships (Cadet, Junior, Senior) and Arab Championships (Cadet, Junior) ... earned third place twice at the Mediterranean Games ... certified as an Olympic fencer.
