Jim Campbell, E.M. ,C., will embark on his 27th season as a member of the Wayne State University athletic department staff in the fall of 2026. He is currently an assistant athletic director in charge of the Wayne State Fieldhouse, after serving in a similar capacity for Matthaei Facilities.
He spent six years as the supervisor of the athletic multipurpose indoor facility before heading the Matthaei Facilities Office. Campbell began his WSU career in September 2000 as the equipment manager for both the men's and women's ice hockey teams.
He came to WSU after spending two years as an assistant equipment manager for the USA National Team Development Program (ice hockey) in Ann Arbor. Campbell spent the summer of 2000 with the Detroit Lions as an assistant equipment manager. He also served as Equipment Manager for the USA Women's Under-18 team at the 2011 IIHF World Championships.
He earned his bachelor's degree from WSU in History, a master's degree in World History with a concentration in Modern East Asia, and a second master's degree in Sports Administration.
Campbell resides in Oak Park with his wife, Anne, and son, Brendan.
