Celine Freeman-Gibb joined the Wayne State University track and field program as a throws coach in November of 2023.  The 2025-26 academic year will be her third on head coach Grant Lofdahl's staff.

In her first year at WSU, Freeman-Gibb guided Kaleigh Flowers to a pair of scoring performances at the 2024 GLIAC Outdoor Championships as Flowers finished fourth in the discus and sixth in the hammer.

During the 2024-25 academic year, Makayla Stewart placed eighth (indoor) and seventh (outdoor) in the shot put, while Ania Toboy finished fifth in the discus and eighth in the hammer at the 2025 GLIAC Outdoor Championships.

A native of Windsor, Ontario, Freeman-Gibb has earned three degrees from the University of Windsor -- a bachelor's of Human Kinetics in 2013; a bachelor's of Education in 2014; and a master's of Human Kinetics in 2016.

After graduating from UW, she spent two years teaching in the United Kingdom, before embarking on a teaching career at Academie Ste. Cecile and then with the Greater Essex County District School Board.

Freeman-Gibb attended the University of Windsor on scholarship for shot put.  She competed at the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Championships from 2010 through 2014, winning the women’s shot put in both 2011 and 2013, and a silver medal in both 2012 and 2014.  Freeman-Gibb advanced to the Canadian Interuniversity Sport Championships (now called USport) from 2010-2014 winning the women’s shot put in both 2012 and 2013, and finishing as the bronze medalist in both 2011 and 2014.

She serves as the throws coach for the University of Windsor Athletics Club (2014-16, 2019-present) and has been the head coach of the UWAC since 2022.  Freeman-Gibb received the Eddie Chittaro Assistant Coach of the Year Award from the University of Windsor in 2023.

Freeman-Gibb was named the Throws coach for Team Ontario at Canada Summer Games in 2025, Head Track and Field Coach for Team Ontario at the North American Indigenous Games in 2023, and Head Coach at the Ontario Summer Games for her team in 2022 & 2024.

Away from the track, Freeman-Gibb enjoys playing wheelchair basketball for her local team (Rose City Riot) and for Team Ontario (2024-present) who brought home the bronze medal at nationals in 2025.  She also competes in Highland Games Heavy Events across North American and Europe, serving as the Canadian Scottish Athletic Federation’s President since 2020 and sits on the board for the Women’s World Championship Committee (2024-present).

She is a proud dog mom to her and her fiancé Cole’s, black Labrador, Kaya.
