UPDATED August 27, 2023

Madeline Wesley joined the Wayne State University cross country and track & field coaching staff as a student assistant coach in the summer of 2021, and will start her third year as part of Grant Lofdahl's staff in the fall of 2023.

In the fall of 2022, Wesley helped guide the women's cross country program to a ninth-place finish at the NCAA Championships, equaling the second best mark in program history.  In addition, men's cross country runner Ransom Allen placed ninth individually, the highest finish ever, breaking a mark that had stood since 1974.  In addition, the women's cross country staff was voted GLIAC Staff of the Year.

Wesley came to WSU after spending the 2019 cross country season as an assistant coach for the Dakota High School and Middle School squads.

A three-year runner (2015-18) at Bowling Green State University, Wesley majored in Exercise Science.

A Clinton Township native who graduated from Chippewa Valley in 2015, Wesley placed 25th at the 2014 MHSAA Division 1 state cross country meet in a time of 18:25.4 to earn All-State accolades.  She also competed at the cross country state finals as a junior in 2014.

Wesley participated in the Division 1 track and field state finals in the 4x800m relay after being a part of the regional winning championship relay as a junior.  In 2014, she placed 12th at the state meet in the 800m race (personal-best 2:18.86) after finishing second at regionals.  She was third at regionals in the 1600m (5:11.27).  As a senior in 2015, Wesley raced at the regional meet in both the 1600m and 4x400m relay events.

Her younger brother Charles is a member of the WSU football team.
