Toby Pallett joined the Wayne State University women's track and field program as the throws coach in January of 2023.
A retired Ford Motor Company Powertrain Controls Technical Expert, Pallett earned his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Michigan Tech in 1989, and a master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in 1991.
He served as the throws coach at Edsel Ford High School for nine years (1992-2000), and has served as the throws coach at Magsig-Pallett Throwing Club since 2008. Â
Pallett earned All-GLIAC recognition in both the discus and shot put in 1988, and the indoor shot put in 1989. He was selected Team MVP in 1989.
During his coaching tenure, he has mentored 14 AAU or USATF National Junior Olympic Champions (20 Silver & 11 Bronze).
In addition, Pallett has the following certifications:  Positive Coaches Alliance – Level 3 AAU Trained Coach; USATF Level 1 Track & Field Certified Coach (achieved in 2014, re-certified through 2024); USATF Apprentice Track & Field Official (achieved in 2019, renewed through 2024); and USOC SafeSport Trained (re-certified July 2022).
He and his wife, Kimbely, have three children, sons Vonnegut and Wyeth Pallett, and daughter Valadian.
