Jeff Weiss will begin his 25th season as sports information director at Wayne State University in November of 2025.  He was promoted to assistant athletic director for media relations in January of 2007, to associate athletic director in August of 2011, and senior associate athletic director in August of 2015.

The longest-serving SID in WSU's history, Weiss is the main contact for the Wayne State football, women's basketball, women's indoor and outdoor track, and softball teams and also serves as the coordinator of WSU's Athletic Hall of Fame committee.  He assumed additional responsibilities as the sport coordinator for softball in the summer of 2021.  Weiss worked 216 consecutive WSU football games (2001-Oct. 1, 2022).

He joined the WSU staff in November of 2001, after serving 10 months as the director of marketing and communications with the American Heart Association in Toledo, Ohio.

A 1987 graduate of Bowling Green State University, Weiss majored in sport management with an emphasis on information, marketing and promotion.  He served as a student assistant in the BGSU sports information office all four years in college.

From February 1988 through July 1998, Weiss worked at the Central Collegiate Hockey Association league office.  After beginning as administrative assistant, he was promoted to director of communications and served his final three years as assistant commissioner.  He returned to his alma mater in August 1998, and worked as an assistant SID in charge of men's soccer, men's ice hockey, baseball, men's and women's golf and men's and women's swimming and diving for two-and-a-half years.  He also served on the BGSU Athletic Hall of Fame Committee.

A member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), Weiss served on the publications contest committee for two years and has been on the Academic All-America committee for 19 years.  He was recognized at the 2014 CoSIDA Convention for 25 years full-time in the sports information field.  In December of 2015, he received the 2014-15 Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association's Kathy Best "Best of the Best Award" for excellence in public Relations/Media Relations.  The award is named after longtime Detroit Red Wings media relations specialist Kathy Best.

Weiss assumed additional duties as assistant commissioner for public relations for College Hockey America (CHA) in April 2006 and was the host media coordinator for the 2007 Frozen Four in St. Louis.  He also served as the interim commissioner of the CHA women's hockey league for 19 months.  Weiss was the host media coordinator for the 2021 NCAA Division 2 Women's Golf national championship and the 2022 NCAA Division 2 Men's Golf national championship.  Both events were held at TPC in Dearborn.

He resides in Temperance, Michigan, with his wife of 34 years, Christy.  The couple has two daughters, Jillian, a 2017 graduate of WSU, and Madison, a 2019 graduate of the University of Indianapolis.  Jillian is currently a third-year Emergency Resident after completing Medical School at St. George's, while Madison, who earned her MBA in 2022 from Viterbo University, is the Ticket Operations Coordinator at Bowling Green State University.  Weiss is currently in his 37th year in the sports information profession.
