Brian Gold joined the Wayne State volleyball coaching staff in May of 2017 as a volunteer assistant coach. He will handle player development, along with statistical and video analysis.
He came to WSU after spending the previous three seasons as a student assistant coach and video coordinator at Grand Valley State. Gold primarily worked with the middle hitters and defensive specialists with the Lakers. GVSU advanced to the NCAA tournament twice while Gold worked with the team, reaching the D-II Final Four in 2014.
He has served as a coach for the Michigan Volleyball Academy in Grand Rapids, and led his team to the 18 Club Division MJVBA State Championship in 2016. In addition, he assisted with the MVA National 17 Silver team in 2016 along with providing private lessons and working MVA camps and clinics. Since moving to Detroit, he has started coaching at Legacy Volleyball Club.
In the fall of 2016, he was the head junior varsity coach and varsity assistant coach at Forest Hills Northern High School. Gold also served as the Allendale High School varsity assistant coach in 2015 and the freshman team coach in the fall of 2014.
Gold played men's club volleyball at GVSU from 2011 to 2016. He also served as an executive board member.
