Justin Martin was named the Wayne State University volleyball assistant coach and recruiting coordinator in February of 2019.  He oversees the recruiting process and assists with administrative duties.  In the gym, Martin trains all positions and handles the serve-receive plus defense.

In his first year (fall of 2019) in Detroit, Martin helped the Warriors win 17 matches and advance to the GLIAC semifinals.  In addition, WSU had eight Academic All-GLIAC honorees plus three All-GLIAC recipients (Madelyn Krenz-First Team, Kamryn Duffield-Second Team, and Taylor Wagner-Honorable Mention).

During his second season with the Warriors (2020-21), Martin helped guide 13 GLIAC All-Academic honorees, including a school-record 10 on the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team.

Martin joined the Warrior staff after one season as the volunteer assistant at the University of Arkansas.  Prior to that he spent six seasons at Ashland (2012-17), eventually earning the title of associate head coach.  He played a major role in AU's success in recent seasons and was in charge of recruiting, video and training.

Martin brings a wide range of experience to the WSU position.  He was the head coach at Concordia University (Mich.) from 2009-11.  

Martin was Dartmouth men's club volleyball coach from 2000-04, and was a volunteer assistant coach with the Dartmouth women's varsity program in 2003.  From 2005-07, he was the men's club volleyball coach at Eastern Michigan and also served as an assistant coach with the EMU women's program during the spring of 2007.

Martin has extensive volleyball camp experience. During his career, he has worked camps at Michigan, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Youngstown State, Dartmouth and Ashland.  He has been a guest speaker at numerous recruiting seminars.

Martin attended Dartmouth College, and is pursuing a master's degree at Eastern Michigan.
