Chad Johnson joined the men's golf coaching staff as a volunteer assistant in the fall of 2017 and finished his eighth year on head coach Mike Horn's staff in the spring of 2025.
Johnson played two seasons with the Warriors in 2008-09 and 2009 competing in 47 rounds for the Green & Gold and posting a 75.1 stroke average.
Prior to transferring to WSU, he spent three years at Schoolcraft C.C., competing in golf for one season (2004-05) and earning All-Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Eastern Conference Team accolades.
While with the Warriors, Johnson competed in both the NCAA Super Regionals and the NCAA Championship finals. At the Super Regionals, he tied-for-15th with a 218 (70-71-77) after shooting a season-low 70 in the opening round.
He carded a 313 at the NCAA Championships (79-81-75-78).
In the fall of 2009, he achieved his best 18-hole score of the season in the opening round of the Ferris State Invitational, where he placed fourth (69-70-74--213).
