Justin Banks joined the Wayne State Football coaching staff in the spring of 2025.  He will serve as the defensive backs graduate assistant coach on coach Tyrone Wheatley's staff.

The Detroit native earned a bachelor's degree in Sports Management from Western Michigan University in 2020.

He served as running backs coach at Notre Dame College in 2021 and 2022, before spending the 2023 campaign as quality control and wide receivers coach at Lawrence Tech University.  Banks was the football coaching advisor at Harper Woods High School in 2024.

While at NDC, he helped lead the Falcons to three consecutive Mountain East Conference titles and coached three all-conference players including Tabyus Taylor (MEC Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-MEC in Spring 2021), Tyris Dickerson (Second Team in Fall 2021) and Idris Lawrence (Second Team in 2022).

He began his coaching career as a student assistant at WMU from 2015-2019.  During his tenure with the Broncos, WMU won the 2016 Mid-American Conference championship and competed in the Cotton Bowl.
