Karlus Dobbin joined the Wayne State University football staff in March of 2026 as On-Campus Recruiting Coordinator.
Dobbin comes to Detroit after spending the last four seasons at Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC). He began his coaching career as the offensive line coach in 2022 at RCTC and served in that same role in 2024. Dobbin worked as the On-Campus Recruiting Coordinator and as an offensive assistant for the RCTC football program in both 2023 and 2025. During his time in Rochester, the Yellowjackets won two MCAC (Minnesota College Athletic Conference) titles as well as an NJCAA Division 3 Region 13 title in 2023.  The 2023 squad advanced to the NJCAA Division 3 national championship game. Â
Despite being one of the youngest coaches in the MCAC, Dobbin mentored 10 All-MCAC offensive linemen in a three-year period, including four who earned NJCAA All-America recognition.
As the head of academic studies for the RCTC football program, Dobbin helped over 80 athletes graduate with their associates degree in a four-year span.
He will be completing degree requirements for a bachelor's degree in Business Administration at Wayne State.
Dobbin played his junior season at Palmer High School in Colorado Springs, Colo., before concluding his prep career at New Hampstead High School in Bloomingdale, Ga.
