Mackenzie Wilson joined the Wayne State University strength and conditioning staff in January of 2026 as a graduate assistant.

A native of LaSalle, Ont., Wilson earned a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from the University of Maine, while also double majoring in French language and Literature.  She is currently pursuing a master's degree in Sport and Exercise Science at WSU.

During her five-year collegiate career as a student athlete for the Black Bears, Wilson competed in the hammer throw.

She participated in the NCAA Preliminary Round in both 2023 and 2024, and advanced to the National Championships in Eugene, Ore., in 2024 where she placed 20th (61.31m) to garner Honorable Mention All-America recognition.

Wilson finished fifth overall at the 2024 Canadian Olympic Trials.

She was named America East Top Scholar Athlete for Women's Outdoor Track and Field in 2024, while also being a two-time USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete.  In addition, Wilson was a three-time member of the America East All-Academic Team.

In the weight throw, Wilson placed 12th as a freshman (14.83m) at the 2020 America East Indoor Championships.  After redshirting in 2021, she was fifth in the weight throw (17.38) in 2022.  In 2023, Wilson took first in the weight throw at the NEICAAA Championships (19.89m), before placing second at the conference meet (19.39m).  In her final indoor conference meet, Wilson was third in the weight throw (18.09m).

At the America East Outdoor Championships, Wilson finished 10th in the hammer throw (44.85m) and 11th in the discus (34.43m) at the 2021 conference championships.  The following year, she was second in the hammer throw (57.65m).  In 2023, Wilson the league champion in the hammer throw (60.09m) and competed at the NCAA East Preliminary Round.  In her final season, she won the hammer throw (62.98m) at the America East Championships as well as the NEICAAA Championships (60.90m), before placing ninth (61.89m) at the NCAA East First Round.

Wilson set personal-bests in the hammer throw (63.80m at the 2024 UConn Northeast Challenge) and the discus (37.67m at the 2024 Holy Cross Invitational).
