Miguel Quintanilla joined the Wayne State University football coaching staff in March of 2025, and will serve as a graduate assistant coach with the offensive line.
A native of St. Clair Shores, Mich., Quintanilla previously served as the tight ends coach at his alma mater, William Penn University (Iowa), where he helped guide tight end Alexander Price to First Team All-Heart of America Athletic Conference North Division accolades, and was part of an offensive staff that saw improvement in every offensive statistic category compared to the season prior.
In 2023, he served as the Assistant Offensive Line Coach at GLIAC foe Davenport University, a team that climbed to its highest national ranking in school history that season reaching ninth in the country.
Following graduation from WPU, Miguel was part of the coaching staff at St. Clair Shores Lakeview High School that guided the team to the 2022 MHSAA playoffs, the school's fifth appearance in six seasons, including a first round win over Port Huron Northern.
As a collegiate student-athlete, Quintanilla began his career at Santa Monica College, helping the Corsairs go undefeated in conference play (7-0) and winning the SCFA (Southern California Football Association) American Pacific Division Championship in 2015 by averaging over 515 yards per game. Â He spent the following year with Los Angeles Pierce Community College, before completing his sport management degree from William Penn in 2021.
While at WPU, he was part of an offensive line that was known within the Heart of America Conference for their perennial rushing attack, consistently ranking at the top of the conference in total rushing yards, and rushing yards per game.
