Trina Girty will begin her second year as Lead Learning Specialist/Tutor Coordinator in the fall of 2026 as part of the Wayne State University Department of Athletics Student Support Services team.
Girty earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan in 2019, and is currently working on her master's degree in Sports Administration from WSU.
She began working for the Warriors in August of 2024 as a learning specialist primarily with the men's and women's basketball teams.  Girty also assumed additional duties assisting the Compliance Director.  The WSU men's basketball program had a 3.445 term GPA for the Winter 2026 semester, while the women's basketball squad had a 3.528 GPA for the 2025-26 academic year.  In the fall of 2025, she began academically supporting the freshman cohort of football student-athletes.
Girty has spent significant time at Tutor Time Learning Center from 2019-2024 in such roles as Lead School-Age Teacher (navigating virtual learning during COVID, organizing and leading summer camps), Culture Coordinator (boosting staff morale, fostering a family-like environment for staff and families), and Assistant Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) Teacher (individualized academic planning, collaboration, and assessments/evaluations).
The daughter of Dana and Tristram Girty, Trina graduated from Detroit Renaissance High School in 2015.
