Kim Clexton joined the Wayne State University Department of Athletics full-time in June of 2014 as an academic advisor.  She began her 12th year in the department during the summer of 2025.

Clexton graduated from Grosse Pointe South High School before earning a bachelor's degree in general business/pre-law from Michigan State in 1991.  She then completed her MBA in marketing from WSU in 1995 and her MA in Sports Administration in 2024.

Clexton served as an academic advisor in WSU's School of Business Administration from 1992 until 1998, when she was named the Director of Graduate Programs in Eastern Michigan University's College of Business.

She returned to Wayne State in 2002, after serving as the Program Coordinator at the National Conference for Community and Justice in the Arab American and Jewish Friends division.

Clexton was with the WSU University Advising Center for 12 years, serving as a liaison with athletics for the last six years in that position.

Clexton and her husband John, are the parents of three children:  Molly, who is currently pursuing a degree in Global Supply Chain Management at WSU; Owen, who graduated from Beloit College this past year, and Natalie, who completed her BS in Exercise and Sport Science at WSU in 2024 and hopes to complete her MS in Exercise and Sport Science in 2025.
