Wayne State University junior pitcher/utilityLyndsay ButlerĀ (Cambridge, Ont. / Centennial C.V.I.) has been selected as both the GLIAC Player of the Week as well as the GLIAC Pitcher of the Week by the conference office.

This is the 10th time she has been named GLIAC Pitcher of the Week (and 12th total GLIAC honor) as this is the second time she has earned both Pitcher and Player of the Week accolades in the same week (March 16, 2015).

Butler led WSU to a 4-0 week.Ā  She had three multiple-hit contests and reached base at least twice in all four games.Ā  In Tuesday's game one win over Grand Valley State, Butler singled and scored in the first inning, then smacked a two-run home run in the fifth.Ā  In the nightcap, she had a two-out RBI single in the second to make it 3-0, then laced a two-run home run in the top of the seventh.Ā  In Friday's game one triumph over Lake Superior State, Butler had an RBI single in the fifth to tie the game at 1-1, then in game two, she walked and scored in the bottom of the second to make it 2-0.Ā  She also made an outstanding diving catch in right center to end the top of the first in game two.

In the circle, Butler tossed a one-hit shutout against GVSU in Tuesday's first game.Ā  She struck out 12 and walked one.Ā  She returned to the circle in the nightcap, and allowed one run on four hits with eight strikeouts to zero walks.Ā  Butler tossed a four-hitter in Friday's game one victory over LSSU.Ā  She allowed an unearned run and struck out seven to two walks.

For the week, Butler batted .571 (8-for-14) with two home runs and six RBI. She recorded a .600 on-base percentage along with a 1.000 slugging percentage.Ā  Butler was 3-0 on the mound, with a 0.33 ERA and limited opposing batters to a .122 average. She struck out 27 in 21 innings with only three walks.
