Sophomore Niklas Karcz (Bottrop, Germany) helped WSU add a GLIAC Tournament title to its regular season trophy this past weekend. In addition, he was selected GLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Year and voted to the All-GLIAC First Team by the conference's head coaches. He is the first Warrior men's tennis student-athlete to win the award since it was instituted in 1983. On Saturday vs. Northwood, Karcz paired with Pierre to win 6-4 at No. 2 doubles and won 6-0, 6-1 at the top flight of singles.
In the title match against Ferris State, he and Renaudie won 6-4 at No. 2 doubles before securing the match-winning point with a 7-5, 6-4 victory at No. 1 singles.Â
