Sophomore Luka Cvetko (Varazdin, Croatia) had an impressive season debut this past weekend. In addition, he helped the Green & Gold pick up three wins to start the season. On Saturday vs. SVSU, he placed first in the 50 free and swam a NCAA B-standard qualification time of 20.07. Cvetko then notched a win in the 100 free and swam a NCAA B-standard qualification time of 45.40.  Wayne State also swam the fastest 400 medley relay (3:20.31).  The group consisted of Franz Mueller, Hans Anderson, Michael Wolsek and Cvetko.
On Sunday, he started his day by winning the 50 free (20.37) and finished third in the 100 back (52.42). Â
Senior Day was capped off by the men's 200 free relay breaking the pool record in a time trial.  The four-person contingent of Cvetko, Müller, Wolsek and Jack Rogers swam a 1:20.54, eclipsing the pool mark of 1:22.85 set in 2005 by a University of Indianapolis quartet.  Cvetko also broke the pool record for 50 free of 20.33 set by Andrey Seryy in 2010 by swimming the leadoff leg in 19.98. Â
WSU notched a victory in the 200 medley relay (1:30.5). Â The winning quartet included Mueller as the lead, Anderson, Wolsek and Cvetko as anchor.
