Tom Wasner (Altenholz, Germany / Friedrichsort Community School) helped the men's tennis team to a runner-up finish at the GLIAC Tournament this past week, going 3-0 in singles matches and 2-1 in doubles. In singles, Wasner was surgical, besting his Roosevelt opponent 6-0, 6-2, and his foe from Grand Valley State 6-2, 6-2. In the Championship match against Ferris State, the sophomore trailed in both sets, including a 4-1 deficit in the first and a 4-2 disadvantage in the second, but rallied for a 7-5, 6-4 win. On the doubles side, he and partner Benjamin Hill (Düren, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany / Burgau-Gymnasium) earned a 6-4 win over RU and a 7-6 victory over GVSU, before falling in the finals.
