Wayne State University head football coach Paul Winters has announced his 2008 recruiting class, consisting of 20 incoming freshmen.
"I am truly excited about the quality student-athletes that we were able to recruit to Wayne State University," stated Winters.
"Our coaches are the hardest working recruiters that you can find. I am very proud that we were able to improve the roster with young men who are scholars in the classroom and leaders on the football field.
"We recruited young men who had a desire for a world class education and a chance to help WSU compete for championships."

Curtis Ferguson, OL, 6-5, 280, Holt, Mich.
Was an All-Area offensive lineman ... helped coach Mike Smith's squad to an 11-1 mark and a district title in 2007... also wrestled for the Rams ... born September 14, 1989 ... son of Scott Ferguson.

Andrew Hall, LB, 6-1, 225, Detroit, Mich./Cooley
A four-year varsity player was a Detroit News Division 1-2 First-Team All-State selection ... had 184 tackles, 18 sacks and three interceptions ... at running back, he rushed for 380 yards and four touchdowns ... also played tight end at times ... was a 2007 Detroit Free Press All-Detroit First Team honoree.

Helped the Colts reach the Class A state semifinals in 2007 for head coach Gary Griffith ... served as a team captain as THS went 10-3 ... rushed for 1,144 yards on 151 carries and 13 touchdowns with a long of 70 ... completed 108 of 200 passes for 1,370 yards with 10 touchdowns and nine interceptions ... the Observer & Eccentric All-Area First Team ... born February 6, 1990 ... son of Steve Hamilton.

Led the Mustangs with 184 total tackles including 59 solo in 2007 to earn Observer & Eccentric All-Area accolades ... also recorded two sacks, two interceptions, a fumble recovery and a blocked kick for coach Ryan Hockman... was a 2006 All-Area selection with 111 tackles ... recorded 91 tackles as a sophomore in 2005 to earn honorable mention All-Western Lakes Activities Association ... scored 23 points in a basketball win over Plymouth in January ... born March 3, 1990 ... son of Kenneth Hasse.

Was a three-year starter for the Eagles ... was a 2007 Second Team All-Westside quarterback selection by C & G Newspapers and a First Team All-OAA Blue Division quarterback for coach Ryan Dunlap ... accounted for four touchdowns (two rushing, two passing) in a 2007 win over Hazel Park ... rushed for 10 touchdowns and 439 yards on 54 carries in 2007 ... completed 55 of 110 passes for 916 yards and 13 touchdowns with five interceptions ... placed second in the long jump (21-3) at the 2006 Oakland County Track and Field Championships ... also runs on the 4x100 relay team.

Helped the Warriors to an 11-1 mark as a junior and the Catholic League title ... was a key contributor to an 8-3 record as a senior for Coach Al Fracassa ... earned Observer and Eccentric All-Area First Team honors as a defensive back in 2007 after recording 70 tackles including 40 solo with three sacks ... also had two interceptions and seven fumble recoveries ... rushed for three touchdowns as a fullback ... had a 45-yard fumble return for a touchdown against Orchard Lake St. Mary.

Was a four-year starter for coach Greg Hudkins and the Trojans ... listed on the Detroit News 2008 Blue Chip List at No. 50 ... named to the 2006 Toledo Blade Special Mention team as a linebacker after making 47 tackles with two sacks ... rushed for 789 yards on 110 attempts with nine touchdowns as a junior ... gained 746 yards on 124 carries in 2007 with nine touchdowns ... also caught 13 passes for 221 yards ... averaged 33.3 yards per kickoff return ... finished with 1,144 all-purpose yards ... had a 41-yard touchdown run vs. Livonia Franklin in the 2007 state playoffs ... born August 22, 1990 ... son of Jessie Johnson.
