Decatur, Ala. -- The 20th-ranked Wayne State University softball squad (2-0 overall) completed its opening day of the season with a 4-1 triumph over Georgia College & State University (4-4) in the second round of the Decatur Softball Chillout. The Bobcats lost earlier in the day, 5-3 in eight innings, to West Alabama.
GCSU's Kelsea Martin led off the game with a double but was stranded at third. In the bottom of the frame, sophomore

Jaci Banton (Richmond Hill, Ont. / Cardinal Carter), moved to third on a ground out by
Rebecca Stanley (Waterloo, Ont. / Waterloo C.I.) and scored on a sacrifice fly by newcomer
Steph Foreman (Cambridge, Ont. / Preston).
The Bobcats had another leadoff double in the second, this by Ann Parker, but she was erased on a fielder's choice.

Allen advanced to third as Banton reached on a strikeout with a passed ball. Stanley's single to right center scored Allen with WSU's final run.
GCSU scored an unearned run in the fifth off WSU starter
