Midland, Mich. -- The eighth-ranked Wayne State University softball squad (45-10 overall, 19-5 GLIAC) won for the 14th time in the last 16 contests with a 6-0 victory at Northwood University (23-18 overall, 15-9 GLIAC) in the second game of Friday's conference twinbill.

Following a Northwood pitching change, Ryan had a two-run single through the left side after fouling off a 3-2 pitch.
WSU senior pitcher
Nicole Abel (Kitchener, Ont. / St. Mary's) recorded a career-best tying 12 strikeouts while limiting Northwood to two singles and a two-out double in the second. Abel did not walk a batter in the contest.
Carly Gueldenzopf (4-6) was tagged for six earned runs on six hits and four walks in 3.2 innings. Jessica Wojcik pitched the final 2.1 innings allowing four hits.
Eight different WSU batters contributed to the 10-hit attack led by two hits apiece from Ryan and Foreman.
Wayne State will conclude the regular season with a GLIAC doubleheader at Lake Superior on Saturday. A pair of wins would give the Warriors the 2010 GLIAC regular-season title.
