MIDLAND, Mich. - The Wayne State University baseball team (18-8, 10-4 GLIAC) split a doubleheader for the second straight day at Northwood University (12-12, 7-7 GLIAC) on Sunday afternoon.
The Timberwolves took game three by the same score in which they took game one, 3-2. The Warriors won the finale, 7-1, to even the weekend series.

GAME THREE: NORTHWOOD 3, WAYNE STATE 2
Wayne State attempted to come back from a two-run deficit in the top of the seventh inning, as an RBI double by
Andrew Ciennik (Waterford, Mich.) made it a 3-2 game.
Michael Wiseman (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland) was subsequently hit by a pitch and represented the go-ahead run, but Jordan Schwellenback came on for Eric Kinley (1-0) to record the final out.
Wiseman had three of WSU's seven hits, including an RBI double in the top of the first, which was promptly answered by a RBI double from Casey Ingle.
Northwood took a 3-1 lead in the fifth as Rinard led off the inning with a home run and Ingle hit a sacrifice fly.
Alex Pierse (Clinton Twp., Mich./De La Salle) took the loss, his first of the season (3-1), allowing seven hits over 5.0 innings. He walked two and struck out two.
Kirk Stambaugh (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview) finished the job with a scoreless inning in relief.
GAME FOUR: WAYNE STATE 7, NORTHWOOD 1
The Warriors scored in each of the last five innings, including two runs in the sixth and seventh, providing more than sufficient run support for
Josh Wedesky (Fowlerville, Mich.), who pitched 5.2 solid innings and improved to 6-0 on the year.
Wedesky scattered seven hits and allowed just one run. He walked one and struck out two before
Billy Hurley (Mississauga, Ont./St. Aloysius Gonzaga) came on to pitched a hitless 1.1 innings.
#C.J. Maszal# (Allen Park, Mich.) paced the Warriors offensively with three hits, an RBI and two runs scored. Maszal is hitting .625 (15-24) with nine runs scored during his current seven-game hitting streak.
Wayne State grabbed a 1-0 lead on an RBI single by Ciennik in the third, and doubled the lead after an RBI double by
Caleb Dalman (Hudsonville, Mich.) in the fourth.
A sacrifice fly by Ciennik brought in
Cameron Walker (Clinton Twp., Mich./De La Salle), who led off the fifth inning with a double. Two runs came in to score in the sixth on a base hit by
Phil Swanson (Rochester Hills, Mich./Stoney Creek), while Maszal and
Alex Trojan (Fenton, Mich./Hartland) each drove in a run in the seventh.
Matt Theiss, one of five NU pitchers used in the game, took the loss (0-1) after allowing two runs on three hits in 4.0 innings.
NOTES
Maszal's hitting streak is one game shy of his season-high and the longest current streak on the team … Hurley has yet to allow a run this season in 16.1 relief innings … Ciennik has reached base safely in each of the last nine games … Wedesky has a 2.25 ERA and 29 strikeouts this season … the Warriors have scored 32 percent of their runs this season in the sixth and seventh innings … WSU is 28-10 against Northwood since 2002.
