Painesville, Ohio -- The Wayne State University softball team (27-19 overall, 19-9 GLIAC) won twice Friday at Lake Erie College (5-40 overall, 2-26 GLIAC) to improve to 12-1 in their last 13 contests. WSU took the opener 5-0, before pounding out 20 hits in an 18-0 triumph in the nightcap.
Senior pitcher
Sam Cain (Taylor, Mich. / Kennedy) tossed a five-hit shutout to pace the Warriors in game one. She struck out five and walked two for her 12th victory in her last 13 decisions. It was also Cain's fourth whitewash of the season.
WSU jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the first. Sophomore left fielder
Logan White (Brantford, Ont. / Johnson C.V.I.) had a one-out infield single and senior first baseman
Rebecca Ryan (Westland, Mich. / Dearborn Divine Child) drilled a two-out, two-run home run, her sixth round-tripper of the campaign.
The Warriors added two more runs in the top of the second. Senior shortstop
Lauren Histed (Shelby Twp., Mich. / Utica) had a one-out single and scored as sophomore second baseman
Nikki Fulton (Stratford, Ont. / St. Michael Catholic S.S.) blasted her team-leading 10th home run.
The next four innings were scoreless, then Ryan smacked a one-out solo home run in the top of the seventh to complete a 4-for-4 contest. She drove in three runs.

Stephanie Foreman (Cambridge, Ont. / Preston) each had two hits in the game.
Wayne State freshman pitcher
Briana Lee (Canton, Mich. / Salem) hurled a two-hit shutout in game two striking out four and walking two. It was her fifth win in her last six decision.
WSU scored at least once in each of its four at bats tallying two runs in the first, seven in the second, eight in the third and one in the fourth.
Fulton and White led off the bottom of the first with back-to-back singles. After a ground out, Foreman delivered a two-run single.
Sophomore
Amanda Burnard (Canton, Mich. / Plymouth) started the second frame with a single and freshman
Emily Bryce (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester Adams) followed with an infield hit. After a fielder's choice, Fulton made it 3-0 with a single, and White singled to load the bases. Senior third baseman
Alison Allen (Redford, Mich. / Farmington Hills Mercy) contributed a two-run single and Foreman followed with an RBI hit making it 6-0. Freshman
Shelby Spano (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Stevenson) had a two-out, two-run single and Bryce had an RBI single following a double by Burnard.
In the eight-run third, Burnard and Foreman each had two-run singles with two outs as the Warriors scored seven times in the inning with two outs.
Burnard and Foreman each went 4-for-4 in game two with Foreman driving in five to lead WSU. Fulton and White each had three hits as everyone who batted scored at least once for Wayne State.
The five RBI for Foreman were her most since recording six RBI on May 1, 2010, vs. Lake Superior.
The Warriors will conclude the road portion of its 2012 regular-season schedule with a doubleheader at Lake Erie on Saturday.
