The Wayne State softball team (29-19 overall, 21-9 GLIAC) has won 16 of its last 20 games, and after a slow start to the season, the Warriors have put themselves in position to at least share first place in the GLIAC South.
Ashland, who is currently in first place in the South, will come to Detroit with a GLIAC record of 22-8, a full game ahead of WSU. The Eagles currently sit in line for the second seed in the conference tournament, behind Grand Valley.
The Lakers are idle on Tuesday and will most likely take the top seed in the weekend's GLIAC Tournament.
Meanwhile, the hot-hitting Warriors took all four games at Lake Erie on Friday and Saturday.
Rebecca Ryan,
Nikki Fulton,
Alison Allen, and
Julie Ingratta all smashed home runs.
Sam Cain has pitched extremely well for the Warriors, allowing just one unearned run in her last 22 innings pitched, posting a 3-0 record and one save.
Two weeks ago, WSU swept the Eagles in Detroit.
