Tiffin, OH -- The Wayne State women's tennis team improved to 5-1 on the year including a GLIAC mark of 5-1 after rolling through Tiffin on Friday afternoon 7-2. It was the Warriors fourth stright victory with two more matches to come this weekend.
Wayne State swept the doubles flights with 8-6, 8-3 and 8-1 victories in the respective matches before moving on to singles play. The freshmen Canadian duo of
Alex Poissant (Laval, Que. / Vanier Prep) and
Julia Kamenko (Thornhill, Ont. / Vaughan S.S.) led the charge for the Warriors as they also easily handled their singles matches as well.
Poissant rolled at #3 singles 6-2, 6-0 as she has all year long while Kamenko took home a 6-2, 6-3 victory at the #2 spot.
Anne Li Briand (Repentigny, Que. / École Secondaire Félix-Leclerc) was great again at #1 doubles with
Yahsha Moore (West Bloomfield, Mich. / West Bloomfield) and at #4 singles as well grabbing Wayne State points with 8-6 and 6-0, 6-0 wins respectively.
The ladies continue this trip today with a match against Ohio Dominican before heading off to a showdown with Ashland on Sunday.
