SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. -- The Wayne State University women's tennis team won its seventh straight contest and second in as many days Friday as the Warriors defeated Lake Superior State University 8-1.
With the victory, WSU improved to 9-1 overall and in the GLIAC. The Warriors have one remaining road conference matchup visiting Saginaw Valley on Saturday before wrapping up its league schedule with three straight matches in Detroit.

Yahsha Moore (West Bloomfield, Mich. / West Bloomfield) and
Anne Li Briand (Repentigny, Que. / École Secondaire Félix-Leclerc) earned an 8-1 win at the top flight, while sophomore
Julia Kamenko (Thornhill, Ont. / Vaughan S.S.) and freshman
Andreea Mitrache (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Warren Cousino) posted an 8-5 victory at No. 2 doubles.
Wayne State also earned the victory at No. 3 doubles as LSSU didn't field any players.
In singles, the Warriors took five of the six matches. Moore improved to 8-2 at the top flight in singles with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles. Mitrache tallied a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles, while Briand was a 6-2, 6-3 winner at No. 4 singles.
Sophomore
Alex Poissant (Laval, Que. / Vanier Prep) rallied from dropping the first set to earn a 6-7 (5-7), 7-5, 10-6 win at the fifth flight. Wayne State also took the last flight in singles because LSSU was short a player.
The Warriors last road conference dual match with Saginaw Valley starts at 10 a.m. Saturday.
