Kissimmee, Fla. -- The Wayne State University softball team (5-5 overall) played two nationally ranked squads on Sunday and came away with a split.
In the 6-2 win over #40-Adelphi (7-3), sophomore
Briana Lee (Canton, Mich. / Salem) went the distance striking out four to earn her second victory of the weekend.
The Warriors scored five times in the bottom of the third. Freshman shortstop
Gabby Williams (South Lyon, Mich.) had a leadoff single and advanced to second on a bunt single by junior second baseman
Nikki Fulton (Stratford, Ont. / St. Michael Catholic S.S.). Junior outfielder
Logan White (Brantford, Ont. / Johnson C.V.I.) followed with another infield hit to load the bases. Two runs scored on an infield hit by senior

After a walk to Lee, sophomore
Emily Bryce (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester Adams) laced a three-run double to left center pushing the Warrior lead to 5-0.
WSU would score its final run in the bottom of the fifth as Bryce had a two-out single then stole second. She scored on a double to left center by freshman
Jade McGarr (Guelph, Ont. / St. James Catholic).
Lee allowed two hits and a run in each of the last two innings.
Fulton, Bryce and McGarr each had two hits for the Warriors.
Wayne State dropped the nightcap, 7-2, to 16th-ranked Augustana (S.D.).
The Vikings scored once in the bottom of the second and then added a two-run home run in the third by pitcher Jenelle Trautmann off WSU starter

Amy Zaranek (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich. / Grosse Pointe North) made her debut in the circle in the fourth coming in with two on and one out and got out of the jam with a double play.
In the top of the fifth, Wayne State pulled within a run (3-2) as McGarr had a leadoff double and scored on a pinch-hit single by
Alex Elwell (Kalamazoo, Mich. / Loy Norrix). Freshman
Ashley Dunford (Chesterfield, Mich. / L'Anse Creuse North) followed with an infield single. After Elwell was forced out on a grounder, Dunford scored on a Viking miscue.
Augustana would score four times in the bottom of the fifth on four hits and a Warrior error.
The Warriors will play a 4 p.m. doubleheader on Monday at No. 14-Flagler College.
