Detroit --
Wayne State (13-9, 4-3) used all-around efforts to sweep a Friday doubleheader with Lake Erie (5-15, 2-6). The Warriors won game one, 14-2, and game two, 8-0. Ethan Vasiliauskas (3-2) and Alex Pierse both were solid on the mound for the Green & Gold.

Game One (W, 14-2)
Wayne State started fast, similar to Thursday, the difference on Friday was that the Warriors kept the pressure on the entire afternoon. WSU scored five runs in the first inning powered by a three-run Chris Gebara double to left center. Jeremy Carrell and Kasey Koster also drove in runs during the big inning.

The first four hitters in the second inning reached base, knocking out Lake Erie's starter Bryan Kilway (2-2). An Eric Cunningham ground out and error allowed Brad Guenther to score before Mickey Mohner doubled to right center to plate Koster for the third run of the inning. After two complete innings, WSU led 8-0.

The Warrior train kept rolling in the third with three more runs. Koster drove in a run with single through the right side before Kyle Zimmerman singled home Koster across home plate. Gebara drove in a run with an infield single to second base to give the home team an 11-0 advantage.

Lake Erie touched up Vasiliauskas for two runs on three hits in the fourth inning.

Carrell gave WSU a run in the fifth with a sacrifice fly to left to plate Jimmy Jackson.

Wayne State added two more in the fifth with a Mark Lepri pinch-hit RBI single to left field and a bases-loaded walk issued to pinch hitter A.J. Matos to make the final score 14-2.

Vasiliauskas finished with 6.0 innings of work, allowing two earned runs and stiking out five. Keaton LeBlanc made his first appearance of the season and was impressive with a scoreless seventh inning.

Koster and Cunningham both collected three hits while Gebara turned in WSU's first four-RBI game of the season.

Game Two (W, 8-0)
Pierse collected his second career complete game shutout with 7.0 innings of work, allowing just three hits and striking out a career-high nine batters in game two.

The Warriors proved run support immediately for Pierse with two runs in the first inning. Kenny Davis tripled off the wall to begin the frame and Carrell doubled Davis home to put WSU on the board after just two hitters. Guenther followed with an RBI single to make it 2-0.

Carrell drove in two more in the second with a single through the left side and Gunther followed with an RBI double to center field.

A wild pitch scored a run before Koster singled home Wayne State's seventh run of the game.

Davis singled through the left side to give WSU a 8-0 lead in the fifth inning, and that would be plenty for Pierse. The senior left-hander, retired 14 out of the last 15 hitters today, including 11 straight.

Carrell finished with his third multiple hit (4-for-4) and multiple RBI (3) game of the season and first four-hit game of his career.

Lake Erie and Wayne State will conclude its three-game series with a nine-inning contest on Saturday at noon.
