DETROIT -- The Wayne State University softball squad (16-16 overall, 7-5 GLIAC) dropped both ends of a home GLIAC doubleheader to 12th-ranked Grand Valley (25-3 overall, 13-1 GLIAC) falling 7-2 in the opener and 17-2 in the nightcap.
In game one, GVSU scored three times in the top of the second despite having the first two batters retired. A walk, a hit by pitch and a pair of infield hits along with a throwing led to the Laker runs. Miranda Cleary homered leading off the fourth increasing the Grand Valley lead to 4-0.
Stephanie Foreman () led off the fourth with a single and scored on a two-out, two-run home run by pitcher
Briana Lee (), her first collegiate home run.
GVSU scored once in the sixth on a bases loaded hit by pitch added two more in the seventh on a pair of RBI doubles.
Lee (4-11) went the distance in the circle for the Warriors allowing seven runs (five earned) on eight hits with nine strikeouts and five walks. Laker pitcher Hannah Santora (14-0) limited WSU to six hits and two earned runs with three strikeouts and one walk.
Foreman led the Warrior hitters with two singles.
Grand Valley hit a grand slam home run in each of the first two innings (Kayleigh Bertram in the bottom of the first and Katie Martin in the second) off Wayne State starter

GVSU scored nine times combined in the third and fourth innings off a pair of Warrior relievers.
WSU's lone offensive output was two runs in the top of the fourth.
Logan White () worked a full count leadoff walk and advanced to second on a single by
Emily Bryce ().
Jade McGarr () walked on a full count pitch to load the bases and
Amanda Burnard () delivered a two-run single.
Boehler (11-3) surrendered eight runs (seven earned) on four hits with three walks in her two innings of work.
Emily Wickerham () tossed the third inning and
Amy Zaranek () pitched the bottom of the fourth.
Bryce had two of WSU's three hits in the nightcap with Burnard's single being the other safety.
Wayne State remains at home for a Sunday (April 14) noon doubleheader vs. Ferris State.
