Painesville, Ohio -- The Wayne State University softball team (12-12 overall, 3-1 GLIAC) recorded a pair of road victories on Wednesday defeating host Lake Erie College (2-16 overall, 0-8 GLIAC) 9-1 and 9-0 in games halted after five innings because of the run rule.

The Warriors scored six times in the top of the second in the opener to snap a scoreless deadlock.  Freshman third baseman Jade McGarr (Guelph, Ont. / St. James Catholic) led off with a walk, was sacrificed to second by sophomore pitcher Briana Lee (Canton, Mich. / Salem), and advanced to third on a single by redshirt freshman outfielder Catherine Rayos (Warren, Mich. / Mott/Macomb Mathematics Science Technology Center) following a walk to junior backstop Amanda Burnard (Canton, Mich. / Plymouth).

Freshman shortstop Gabby Williams (South Lyon, Mich.) then delivered a two-run single to left and the bases were loaded again following an infield hit by junior second baseman Nikki Fulton (Stratford, Ont. / St. Michael Catholic S.S.).  A sacrifice fly by junior outfielder Logan White (Brantford, Ont. / Johnson C.V.I.) made it 3-0.

Williams scored as senior outfielder Stephanie Foreman (Cambridge, Ont. / Preston) reached on a two-out error, while sophomore first baseman Emily Bryce (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester Adams) added a two-run single to right.

Lee reached on an error leading off the third and scored on another miscue by the Storm.

WSU's final two runs came in the top of the fifth as Lee had a leadoff single, was sacrificed to second by Burnard, and after a walk to Williams, Fulton reached on an error allowing Lee to score.  White had an infield hit plating Williams.

LEC's lone run came in the bottom of the fifth after a leadoff double was followed by an RBI single.

Lee went all five innings in the circle to improve to 3-8 by limiting the Storm to the two aforementioned hits and striking out six.  LEC had just one baserunner in the first four innings - a leadoff hit by pitch in the fourth.

Fulton led WSU with three hits, while five other Warriors had one hit in the contest.

The nightcap saw the second perfect game of the season by WSU freshman hurler Mackenzie Boehler (Saginaw, Mich. / Swan Valley).

She improved to 7-2 by notching her third shutout of the season.  Boehler only went to a three-ball count on two batters - the leadoff batter of the game and the second hitter in the fifth inning.  She struck out seven of the 15 Storm batters and only the last out of the game left the infield.

WSU scored twice in the bottom of the first as White singled with one out, stole second and third and scored as the throw to third was mishandled.  Foreman walked and stole second as part of a double steal and scored on a double by McGarr.

The Warriors tallied seven runs in the bottom of the fourth.  Burnard had a leadoff double and moved to third on a bunt single by Rayos.  Williams contributed an RBI single before Fulton reached on an error allowing another run.  White's infield single produced another run, and Foreman was safe on an infield hit to re-load the bases.  Bryce had an RBI single with White scoring on a groundout.  Lee, who was serving as the designated player in game two, drilled a two-run double to left to complete the scoring.

Wayne State will continue on the road for a twinbill at Hillsdale on Thursday.
