DETROIT --
Wayne State softball (15-13, 6-2) had its five-game winning streak snapped by Tiffin (11-15, 5-3) in game one on Saturday, 3-0, but bounced back to win game two, 4-3.

Game One (L, 0-3)
Both teams were quiet through the first two innings but Tiffin struck in the third inning for two runs to take a 2-0 lead. The first run scored with a bases loaded hit-by-pitch from starter Briana Lee (4-9). Madison Yanek flew out to left field for a sacrifice fly for the second run of the inning.

Emily Bryce singled with two outs in the fourth inning but the Warriors could not put together a two-out rally.

The Dragons tacked on its third run in the fifth as Caitlin Houck singled through the left side to plate Kristin Prokopakis, who singled to begin the inning. Tiffin used a sacrifice bunt and a ground out to advance her to third prior to the run-scoring single.

Amanda Burnard doubled with one out in the fifth inning. Ashley Dunford pinch-ran for the Wayne State catcher and reached third on a sacrifice bunt before pinch-hitter Mackenzie Boehler flew out to center field to end the frame.

Lee settled down and put up zeroes the rest of the way to give the Green & Gold a chance. Nikki Fulton led off the sixth inning with a single through the left side but a strikeout followed by a 1-6-3 double play ended the threat. The Warriors went in order in the seventh to drop game one.

Game Two (W, 4-3)
Boehler (10-2) was the story in game two as she led the Warriors to a 4-3 win, allowing three earned runs and striking out three hitters in her seven innings of work.

Wayne State gave its starting pitcher two runs of support in the opening inning powered by two hits and one Dragon error.  Tiffin retired the first two hitters before walking Stephanie Foreman. Bryce reached via an error before Jade McGarr singled up the middle for an RBI. Lee singled home Foreman for the second run of the game for the Warriors.

The Dragons put two on in the first inning with back-to-back singles but Boehler was up to the task as she retired the next two hitters with a strikeout and a pop out.

Tiffin cut the deficit in half on Kasie Sepeda's home run down the right field line in the second inning.

Wayne State used one hit and two Tiffin errors to plate two more runs in the fourth inning, extending its lead to 4-1. Those runs would prove to be very important. Logan White delivered the two-run single after the Dragon's began the inning with back-to-back errors.

The Warriors loaded the bases in the seventh inning. However, relief pitcher Kelsey Yaratch was able to dance around three singles to escape the inning unharmed.

Tiffin would mount a comeback in the bottom of the seventh inning. A leadoff walk was followed by a single from Prokopakis. Boehler was able to get Jena King to pop out to the shortstop for the first out. Emily Shaw popped out to second before Houk doubled to right center field to bring home two runs. With a one-run lead, 4-3, Boehler struckout Madison Yanek on three pitches to secure the game two victory.

Wayne State will be back in action on Sunday with a doubleheader against Ohio Dominican beginning at noon.
