Midland, Mich. --
Wayne State (19-10, 10-4) extended its winning streak to six games with an 18-8 thrashing of Northwood (9-14, 4-8) on Sunday to collect its second consecutive GLIAC series sweep.

The 18 runs were the most runs in a game this season and most since Feb. 26, 2011 against Queens (24).

Kasey Koster, Jimmy Jackson and Kyle Zimmerman all turned in three-RBI games while Kenny Davis went 4-for-5 with two runs scored.

Koster drilled his third home run of the season, a three-run blast, over the right field wall in the first inning to give the Warriors a 3-0 lead.

Northwood answered with two runs in the bottom of the first on two hits and a wild pitch that allowed a run to cross. However, Wayne State induced a double play to end the inning and limit the damage.

Wayne State extended its lead to 6-2 with three runs in the top of the third inning. Singles from Eric Cunningham and Jackson plated a run before Zimmerman doubled to right center for the third run of the inning.

Anthony Dipaolo began the third inning with an infield single for the Timberwolves and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Eric Altman doubled to right field to pull the Timberwolves within three, 6-3.

Northwood followed with a run on a passed ball before Dipaolo doubled home another run to cut the deficit to a run, 6-5. Taylor Horn (2-0) replaced starter David Frederick with two outs in the fourth inning.

A wild pitch allowed Jason Fracassa to score, tying the game at 6-6 in the fifth inning following his double to leadoff the inning.

The Green & Gold regained the lead in the sixth inning on a fielding error charged to Northwood's shortstop. Jackson followed with a single to right to give WSU an 8-6 lead and chase Timberwolves' starter Jake Winicki from the game.

In game one on Saturday, Wayne State scored nine runs on seven hits in the fourth inning. On Sunday, the Warriors scored nine runs on six hits in the seventh inning to extend its lead to 17-6. Brad Guenther and Zimmerman both had two-run singles in the inning.

Kirk Stambaugh, Christian Bilkovic and Clayton Ruch tossed the final three innings.

The Timberwolves scored two runs on two hits and a Wayne State error in the bottom of the seventh.

Mark Lepri delivered a pinch-hit RBI double to left field for WSU's 18th run of the day in the eighth inning.

The Warriors will play at Urbana on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
