Rosemont, Ill. -- The Wayne State University softball squad (7-1 overall) blanked tournament host Lewis (0-1 overall) 3-0 Saturday afternoon at The Dome at the Ballpark Indoor Tournament.
All the scoring happened in the top of the second inning as
Julie Ingratta (Markham, Ont. / St. Thomas of Villanova College) led off with a single up the middle. After a foul out,
Allie Buchanan (Cambridge, Ont. / Galt C.I.) walked.Â
Amanda Burnard (Canton, Mich. / Plymouth) followed with a single to load the bases. Two runs scored as
Shannon Hilton (Gilford, Ont. / Bradford) reached, while Burnard came across home plate as
Emily Cava (Oakville, Ont. / Cardinal Leger S.S.) reached on an error.
Meanwhile, WSU hurler
Lyndsay Butler (Cambridge, Ont. / Centennial C.V.I.) improved to 4-0 by tossing a one-hit shutout of the Flyers.
After allowing a one-out single in the first, Butler retired the next 12 Flyer batters until a one-out walk in the fifth. But a strikeout and a ground out ended that frame.

A two out walk in the seventh preceded a game-ending strikeout.
Butler finished the contest with six strikeouts to two walks while facing just 25 batters and recording 11 ground outs.
Kelly Bowler went the distance for Lewis allowing three runs, but only one earned, on five hits with seven strikeouts and two walks.
