Winter Haven, Fla. -- The eighth-ranked Wayne State University softball squad (16-3 overall) extended its winning streak to three games with a 10-0 five inning triumph over Glenville State (2-5 overall) Thursday afternoon.

The Warriors scored three runs in each of the first two innings then two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings.

Pitchers Briana Lee (Canton, Mich. / Salem) and Mackenzie Boehler (Saginaw, Mich. / Swan Valley) combined on a two-hit shutout.  Lee improved to 8-0 with the victory as she retired 12 of the 13 batters she faced including five on strikes, while allowing just one hit.  Boehler tossed a scoreless bottom of the fifth.

WSU started strong as Emily Cava (Oakville, Ont. / Cardinal Leger S.S.) walked to begin the game and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Logan White (Brantford, Ont. / Johnson C.V.I.).  Lyndsay Butler (Cambridge, Ont. / Centennial C.V.I.) tripled in Cava.  After a walk to Emily Bryce (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester Adams), Butler scored on an errant pickoff throw.  Julie Ingratta (Markham, Ont. / St. Thomas of Villanova College) followed with an RBI double.

Amanda Burnard (Canton, Mich. / Plymouth) led off the second with a single and advanced on a walk to Devin Hentschel (Wyoming, Mich. / Rogers).  Cava's sacrifice bunt put two runners in scoring position and White drove in both with a double.  White made it 6-0 on Bryce's sacrifice fly.

Cava started another rally in the fourth with a leadoff single.  White followed with another base hit, and after an out, pinch-hitter Ali Lince (St. Clair Shores, Mich. / Lakeview) loaded the bases with a hit of her own.  After a fielder's choice, Lee delivered a two-run single.

Pinch-hitter Amy Campagnolo (Guelph, Ont. / Saint David Catholic S.S.) led off the fifth with a double and scored on a double by Cava.  White continued the two-bag hit parade while Cava stopped at third.  Allie Buchanan (Cambridge, Ont. / Galt C.I.) drove in the final run with a single.

WSU will play LIU Post Thursday afternoon.
