Warriors Walk Off with Game Two Win Over Seton Hill

WSU Baseball splits for the third straight time, now stand at 10-3 overall.

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- The Wayne State University baseball team (10-3) has alternated wins and losses the past four days and the Warriors picked up another split on Friday against Seton Hill (9-7). The Griffins controlled game one and held off a WSU comeback attempt to win 6-3. Cameron Walker (Clinton Twp., Mich. / De La Salle) ended game two with a walk-off RBI single to give WSU the 5-4 win.

Game One (L, 3-6)
Seton Hill took a 2-0 lead to begin game one with two runs on three hits including a two run single from Chris Miller.

WSU scored a run on a SHU error to trim the deficit to one run, 2-1, in the top of the third inning.

SHU scored four runs on four hits including a two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning to take a 6-1 lead.

Zach Johnson (Grandville, Mich.) drove in a run with a single up the middle in the top of the fourth inning and Eric Cunningham (LaSalle, Ont. / St. Thomas of Villanova) did the same in the fifth inning to cut SHU's lead to 6-3.

The Green & Gold were unable to mount any threat and SHU took game one 6-3.

Kyle Zimmerman (Frankfort, Mich.) (0-1) went all six innings, allowing six runs and striking out five.

Game Two (W, 5-4)
Cunningham gave the Warriors a 1-0 lead with an RBI double in the bottom of the first inning.

A big third inning gave the Warriors a 4-0 lead, powered by five hits. Cunningham, Walker and Spencer Church (Windsor, Ont. / Holy Names) all drove in runs in the inning.

Three Warrior errors helped SHU score two runs in the top of the fourth inning to cut WSU's lead in half, 4-2.

The Griffins tied the game at 4-4 with two runs in the top of the seventh inning powered by three hits and a Warrior error.

WSU loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh inning before Walker sent everybody home with an RBI single down the left field line.

Clayton Ruch (Pemberville, Ohio / Eastwood) (1-0) picked up the win in relief of Alex Kinch (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Pioneer) who went 6.1 innings and allowed four runs and struck out two SHU batters.

The Warriors conclude their Florida trip with a doubleheader against Minnesota Duluth beginning at 11 AM.
