Winter Haven, Fla. -- The eighth-ranked Wayne State University softball team (19-3 overall) rallied from an early 3-1 deficit to record a 5-3 victory Friday over the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears (2-7 overall).

The Warriors grabbed a 1-0 advantage in the bottom of the first as Logan White (Brantford, Ont. / Johnson C.V.I.) had a one-out single and scored as Lyndsay Butler (Cambridge, Ont. / Centennial C.V.I.) smashed a triple to center field.

CSP answered with three runs on four hits and a WSU miscue in the top of the second.

Wayne State regained the lead with a three-run third inning.  Pinch-hitter Jade McGarr (Guelph, Ont. / St. James Catholic) had a one-out single.  Following a fielder's choice, White had a bunt single and Butler added an RBI double plating Devin Hentschel (Wyoming, Mich. / Rogers) to make it 3-2.  Emily Bryce (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester Adams) reached on an error that allowed both White and Butler to score.

The Warriors added an insurance run in the fourth as Ali Lince (St. Clair Shores, Mich. / Lakeview) had a leadoff single and pinch-runner Catherine Rayos (Warren, Mich. / Mott) advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Allie Buchanan (Cambridge, Ont. / Galt C.I.).  Rayos scored as McGarr reached on an error.

Butler earned her ninth win of the season in 11 decisions by striking out 14 and walking just one while allowing seven hits and one earned run.

Stephanie Kappes (0-6) was tagged with the loss despite allowing just two earned runs (five total) on seven hits with one walk and one strikeout.

White led the Warriors hitting attack with a 3-for-3 performance and two runs scored.

Butler had two extra-base hits and drove in two.
