Box Score (HTML) Game 2Allendale, Mich. -- The 14th-ranked Wayne State University softball squad (25-9 overall, 5-5 GLIAC) suffered a doubleheader setback at Grand Valley State University (18-5 overall, 7-1 GLIAC) Friday afternoon by the scores of 6-2 and 8-2.

Devin Hentschel (Wyoming, Mich. / Rogers) had a two-out single, stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on an infield single by
Amanda Burnard (Canton, Mich. / Plymouth).
GVSU regained the lead with a two-out single in the bottom of the fourth, before WSU rallied once again to knot the contest at two in the top of the fifth.
Jade McGarr (Guelph, Ont. / St. James Catholic) had a one-out single, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by
Logan White (Brantford, Ont. / Johnson C.V.I.), moved to third as
Lyndsay Butler (Cambridge, Ont. / Centennial C.V.I.) reached on an error and scored on a wild pitch.
Grand Valley State's Briauna Taylor had a bases-clearing triple in the bottom of the fifth to snap the 2-2 deadlock, then scored an insurance run to complete the scoring.
Butler (12-4) started in the circle for Wayne State and allowed six earned runs on eight hits in five-plus innings. She struck out two and walked one.
Mackenzie Boehler (Saginaw, Mich. / Swan Valley) recorded the final three outs.
Sara Andrasik (8-3) went the distance for the Lakers allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits with two strikeouts and three walks.
McGarr and Hentschel each reached base twice on a single and a walk.
Game 2The nightcap began with Grand Valley State's Miranda Cleary leading off the second with a solo home run to center field.
GVSU increased its lead to 3-0 in the third on two hits, a Warrior error, and two walks.
Wayne State pulled within a run in the bottom of the frame as McGarr and White each singled with two outs, then moved up a base on a wild pitch. Butler laced a two-run single through the right side on a 1-2 offering making it 3-2.
The Lakers tallied five runs in the fifth on only two hits, along with three walks and a Wayne State miscue. There were two bases loaded walks preceding a three-run double by Brittany Taylor.
Briana Lee (Canton, Mich. / Salem) started for WSU and allowed eight runs (four earned) on eight hits in five innings with two strikeouts and five walks. Boehler pitched the final two innings and did not allow a run on two hits with one walk and one strikeout.
Lauren Gevaart (7-0) allowed two earned runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and no walks.
White and Lee each had two hits for the Warriors.
Wayne State will play a GLIAC twinbill at Ferris State on Sunday starting at 1 p.m.
